The small carbon footprint achieved by ELFI Wall System is possible because of the recycled content of the steel material used and recyclability of steel and EPS insulation after the life of structure. All of our products have a long life at maximum performance level, are fully recyclable and contribute significantly to the LEED Rating System (USGBC – US Green Building Council).
ELFI wall and roofing systems deliver annual energy savings of 40-60% over traditional construction methods. Up to 70% content of the steel is recycled. After the life of the building the steel is fully recyclable. The light weight structure contributes to a better survival rate in natural disasters. EPS foam-insulation is fire retardant with no off-gassing, mold, mildew, or insect infestation. The cut-out scrap of EPS is recycled for secondary products. New methods of recycling are being put into large scale industrial use, where EPS cut-outs are turned into original plastic beads ready for second use of EPS (or other plastic forms) production. If you combine ELFI wall system with a high efficiency heating and cooling and advanced energy collection systems (pVs, thermal-solar, wind turbine...) “net zero energy” can be achieved.
